Subaru has released the most extreme version of the Outback station wagon.

The very name Wilderness (“wild nature”) indicates the off-road nature of the new product. Thus, the cross-station wagon acquired a reinforced suspension with increased travel and 17-inch aluminum wheels with Yokohama Geolandar off-road tires.

Thanks to the ground clearance increased by 20 millimeters (up to 241 mm), entry and exit, as well as the ramp angle, have increased.

Externally, the new product differs from the regular Outback in a more brutal body design with a special body kit. Inside, the steering wheel, door cards and gear selector knob are decorated with bright orange inserts, and Wilderness Edition inscriptions adorn the headrests and floor mats.

Under the hood, everything remains unchanged: a 2.4-liter turbo engine developing 264 horsepower and 376 Nm of torque. True, the CVT has a revised final drive ratio to provide greater traction at low engine speeds.

American sales of the Subaru Outback Wilderness Edition will start in the second half of 2021. The price has not yet been announced – it is expected to be about $40,000
