The 2009 Subaru Tribeca is a pleasant car to travel in because its suspension makes it comfortable and it seems well isolated from the outside. In general, it offers a good balance between use on paved roads and driving on roads with certain potholes. On this type of track you can travel at a good pace without transmitting sudden or rapid movements to the occupants because the suspension largely filters the state of the terrain.

On the road it does not give the sensation of stability that a BMW boundaries). In other SUVs of its size, the weight becomes more evident in a situation like this.

The new engine has greater displacement, power and, above all, maximum torque. With this 258 HP boxer engine, the Tribeca achieves better performance and, in addition, consumption has decreased. It is a motor that hardly vibrates and is very smooth. Yes, it can be heard from the interior when accelerating (when the engine exceeds 4,000 rpm), although it is a noise that I do not find annoying either in terms of quantity or quality.

The gear change is, in any case, a five-speed automatic. Its operation has greatly improved compared to that of the 2007 range. Now the changes occur quickly and very smoothly, although on some occasions, it produces a small jerk when downshifting (comments about the previous automatic transmission). During reductions, it even gives a small stroke of the accelerator, simulating the heel-toe maneuver.

The transmission can be used completely automatically or manually by moving the lever to the left rail. In manual mode, if we reach the maximum engine speed limit (above 6,500 rpm) the change goes to a higher gear, preventing us from running out of acceleration, for example, during an overtake. However, if the pedal is pressed at Basically, it does not reduce a gear which, in an emergency maneuver, seems like a mistake to me.

The Tribeca reaches a maximum speed of 207 km/h and takes 8.9 seconds to accelerate to 100 km/h from a standstill (previously 195 and 9.7 respectively). These data are normal for a car of these characteristics. The fuel tank capacity is 64 l, little for a car of this type, where consumption is high.

The cabin is very spacious for five occupants and is better than other all-terrain vehicles for seven. The longitudinal space in the third row is sufficient and you can put your feet under the seats just in front. If the second and third row seats are folded down, a practically flat loading surface is left.

In all versions, the second row seat cushion has a longitudinal adjustment of 200 mm and its backrests fold down.
