The restyled all-terrain station wagon has increased in size, received modern technologies and began to look even more like an SUV.

At home, the model is presented under the name Legacy Outback. The new product retains the proprietary modular platform SGP (Subaru Global Platform), which also underlies other Subaru models.

Compared to its predecessor, the station wagon grew in length by 50 mm (up to 4870 mm), which provided additional space in the cabin. Following the example of SUVs, the station wagon received an extensive protective body kit. The Japanese claim that handling and road stability have also improved.

Under the hood is a 1.8-liter boxer engine with direct injection turbocharging, developing 177 hp. and 300 Nm of torque. The power unit is paired with a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission with manual mode. In addition, all trim levels are equipped with symmetrical AWD all-wheel drive. The declared average fuel consumption is 7.7 liters per hundred kilometers.

The equipment list of the new Legacy Outback includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and an 11.6-inch diagonal multimedia screen.

The advanced EyeSight X safety system, which includes a stereo camera with four front and rear radars, is standard. It ensures safe driving, based, among other things, on high-precision three-dimensional map data.

The Legacy Outback off-road station wagon is already on sale in the Japanese market in two trim levels. Prices start from 4,147,000 yen, or just over 37 thousand dollars at the current exchange rate.
