2024 Subaru BRZ Owner's Manual
The 2024 Subaru BRZ is produced by the Japanese company in association with Toyota Motor Corporation and has a corresponding twin brother, the Toyota GR86. The cars have an authentic design, with the exception of a few stylistic elements and the Subaru nameplate. Despite the fact that the Toyota car company owns a significant part of the shares of Subaru and has made a significant contribution to the process of creating the car, it is Subaru that is the original company that develops the sports car.
Visually, the BRZ model has retained its sharp design features, each of its elements emphasizing the car’s sporty character. Drawing on experience in the world of rallying and motorsports in general, the automaker has equipped the sports coupe with characteristic Brembo brakes, the usual shock absorbers have been replaced with Hitachi struts, and the car’s suspension has been tuned by the STI division.
2024 Subaru BRZ Characteristics
Over the years of production of the previous generation Subaru BRZ, many motorists were concerned about insufficient power, so in the 2024 model, instead of a 2.0-liter 200-strong power unit, a 2.4-liter naturally aspirated engine with a capacity of 230 hp was installed under the hood of the car and a torque of 250 Nm.
Depending on the configuration, the motor is aggregated with a 6-speed automatic transmission, which replaced the variator of the previous version of the model, or a mechanical gearbox with the same number of steps. The mechanics, in turn, have a purely sporty short stroke, thanks to which the movements of the gear shift lever are very clear. The car accelerates the first hundred kilometers in 6.3 seconds.
In the best traditions of sports cars, the Subaru BRZ has rear-wheel drive. The platform on which the sports car is built remained unchanged. To effectively redistribute the torque between the wheels, the drive system is equipped with a Torsen differential. In addition to the sports suspension, the car is equipped with 18-inch wheels already in the basic configuration.
Some elements of the body, such as the hood, wings and roof of the car are made of aluminum alloy, thanks to which the designers managed to achieve a significant reduction in the total weight of the car. Such solutions, of course, positively affected the overall dynamics of the car, considering that the engine does not have high power indicators.
Fuel consumption
In terms of economy, the car also shows not impressive average indicators. Fuel consumption in highway driving mode is 8 liters per 100 km, and in the city cycle 12 liters of fuel. An important aspect here is that such fuel consumption figures are achieved in a car with an automatic transmission, the version with mechanics will be less economical.
Maintenance
Warranty terms from Subaru for the BRZ model:
- limited warranty for 3 years or 60,000 km;
- the warranty for the power unit is 5 years or 100,000 km;
The Subaru car company offers its customers a competitive, but not sufficiently broad, car warranty. Unlike its twin brother, the Toyota GR86, the BRZ model does not have the option of free scheduled maintenance, which from a marketing point of view negatively affects the fight against direct competitors in the class such as: Hyundai Genesis Coupe and Mazda MX-5.
