Taking advantage of the Los Angeles Show, from Japan they have brought another specific novelty for other markets and that in Europe we are not going to get to taste. In the United States the Subaru XV is called Crosstrek, but the Japanese firm has just unveiled the Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid.

As expected, yes, the Crosstrek Hybrid is a new step on Subaru’s electrification path that goes a little further than the Subaru XV Hybrid, being the first plug-in hybrid to land in the range.

Comparing the Crosstrek Hybrid with a normal Crosstrek (or an XV) it will not be easy to find a way to distinguish them. The Crosstrek Hybrid shows no differences apart from the plug cover on the left rear wing, the emblems that accredit it as a plug-in hybrid and the Lagoon Blue Pearl color.

Under its body, this Japanese SUV remains faithful to its 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline boxer engine with a power of 140 HP and 182 Nm of torque associated with a CVT Lineartronic transmission that transfers movement to all four wheels. The thermal section is complemented by two electric motors, one for each axle.

This electric motor is powered by an 8.8 kWh and 25 Ah lithium-ion battery. Subaru claims that the Crosstrek Hybrid is capable of driving up to 27 km in 100% electric mode and reaching 104 km/h without spending a single drop of gasoline. Using the regenerative braking system and some specific changes, the brand promises just over 770 km of total autonomy.

The Crosstrek Hybrid also incorporates some exclusive equipment such as the remote programmer to charge the battery or control the climate control, specific control panel and aesthetic details in the interior. It will hit the market during the first half of 2019 but only in the United States. In Europe we will not see this model but perhaps an adaptation of this hybridization system.
