The exterior design of the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek offers an adventurous image, although with an attractive overall aesthetic that is given by its proportions and a philosophy closer to that of compact cars than to that of SUVs. In essence we are looking at a crossover, hence it uses features of both body types. Among its most notable aspects are its exterior plastic protections in a different color than the body, its LED headlights and the presence of standard roof bars.

In figures, the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek has a length of 4.48 meters, a width of 1.80 meters and a height of 1.58 meters. Despite these measurements that make it an average car within the segment, the interior space of the Crosstrek is not as generous as that of a traditional SUV due to a very tight overall height and notable ground clearance.
Hybrid engine and 4×4 traction of the Subaru Crosstrek

The Subaru Crosstrek is only sold with a gasoline hybrid engine. This engine combines a 2.0 naturally aspirated gasoline engine with a low-power electric motor. Despite the low capacity of the electric propulsion system and the low capacity of its battery, the Crosstrek can travel in 100% electric mode in times of very low power demand at less than 40 km/h. Both engines are connected to a CVT transmission and an all-wheel drive system called Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive.

The Crosstrek’s Symmetrical AWD all-wheel drive system is one of its main claims since it allows you to have traction on all wheels, no matter what. It does not have lockable differentials, relying on traction control electronics and X-Mode to manage the grip of each wheel. Therefore, we are not talking about an all-terrain vehicle capable of leaving the asphalt without hesitation, but rather a system designed to give its best on slippery surfaces such as snow, ice or plenty of water.
