The world premiere of the third generation Subaru XV crossover took place. At the same time, the Japanese SUV also received a new name – the global name Crosstrek, which was previously used only in the United States and Canada.

Crosstrek kept the SGP (Subaru Global Platform) platform of its predecessor, but it was modernized: in particular, the suspension mounts were strengthened, the body base is now more rigid.

At the same time, the dimensions of the novelty have almost not changed: 4480x1800x1580 millimeters. The ground clearance remained the same – 20 centimeters.

The interior is almost identical to the WRX and Levorg models. The crossover did not get the virtual instruments that are in the station wagon’s options list, but there is a vertical display of the media system (11.6 inches). The fastening of the front seats has been changed: the runners are now attached directly to the body, without intermediate supports.

Instead, the Crosstrek became the first model of the brand in Japan with the new generation EyeSight system: a third wide-angle camera was added to the two lenses under the windshield, which quickly recognizes cyclists and pedestrians. Crosstrek also received an electric brake booster, which allows you to start slowing down faster and more intensively. A full-fledged surround view system also appeared (at first there were only rear and front cameras).

In Japan, the Subaru Crosstrek debuted with the e-Boxer hybrid power plant familiar from the former XV model: a 2-liter naturally aspirated, Lineartronic variator and an electric motor built into it. In the predecessor, these two engines produced 145 and 14 hp. in accordance. The all-wheel drive is already “in the base”.

While the model is presented only in the specification for the domestic market, sales in Japan will start next year. Later, export deliveries will also begin.
