Under the hood of the 2016 Subaru WRX there is a 2-liter petrol boxer engine with turbocharging. This engine produces 268 hp. With. power at 5600 rpm and 350 Nm of torque in the range from 2000 to 5200 rpm. Standard for the WRX is a 6-speed manual transmission, which Subaru engineers did a little magic on, optimizing gear ratios and lever length. Due to the expansion of the dynamic range, compared to the previous 5-speed gearbox, when driving at high speed, the engine operates at lower speeds, which has a positive effect on both the noise of the power unit and fuel consumption. Fans of automatic transmissions are offered the Sport Lineartronic CVT.

It’s impossible to imagine Subaru without permanent all-wheel drive, which is why the WRX received it, as they say, β€œby default.” This is a Symmetrical AWD system well known to fans of the brand, the principle of operation of which varies depending on the type of transmission. With a manual transmission, traction is distributed between the axles in a ratio of 50:50. With the CVT, most of the traction goes to the rear axle – 45:55.
