At the start of sales, only one 2-liter gasoline engine was offered for the Subaru XV, which is a deeply modernized unit from the previous generation. Company representatives even name the exact number of modernized components – 80%. The Boxer boxer power unit has become more powerful, more economical and lighter. It now develops 156 hp. 196 Newton meters of tractive effort. In the basic configuration, it will be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, and for the rest – a Lineatronic variator. In all trim levels, the XV is available only with symmetrical all-wheel drive, disc brakes on all wheels and a powerful package of safety systems such as ABS, brake force distribution and VDC dynamic stabilization system.

There have been no changes in the engine range of the Subaru XV. It consists of three horizontally opposed units. Two of them are petrol, from the Boxer family. The 1.6-liter engine produces 114 hp. With. (150 Nm) at 5600 rpm, and the 2-liter develops 150 “horses” (196 Nm) at 6200 rpm. Fuel consumption, according to the passport, is within the limits of 6.3-6.9 liters per 100 km in the combined cycle. As for the 147-horsepower 2-liter turbocharged diesel engine, it produces a maximum torque of 350 Nm in the range from 1600 to 2400 rpm, consuming only 5.6 liters of fuel per 100 km in the combined cycle. The diesel engine in the XV is coupled only with a 6-speed manual gearbox, but with petrol units the choice is much wider. They can work with either a 5- or 6-speed manual transmission or a Lineartronic CVT.
