Presented in the USA, the Subaru Forester is equipped with a 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated boxer petrol engine, which is basic for this market and has been upgraded. Now it uses direct injection, the compression ratio has been increased, and a Start/Stop system has appeared. The engine output was 185 hp. s., torque – 239 Nm; The consumption declared by the manufacturer when driving on the highway is 7.1 liters per 100 km.

The engine is paired with a Lineartronic wedge-chain variator, which in manual mode (if provided in the package) simulates 7 gears that can be switched using the steering wheel paddles. Already in the basic configuration, the operation of the engine and gearbox can be adjusted using the SI-DRIVE system (Intelligent and Sport modes are responsible for more economical and sporty settings). Also included in the “base” is the Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive all-wheel drive system and 220 mm of ground clearance. All-wheel drive in more expensive trim levels can be equipped with an electronic X-Mode system with two off-road modes: Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud. But the basic one is the Active Torque Vectoring system, which slows down the inner wheel relative to the turn for better vehicle handling.
