The debut of the car took place at this year’s auto show in Los Angeles. Following the model range of the Subaru brand, it is possible to safely assert that the automaker relies more on tradition when developing models, and the spirit of the Japanese company is embedded in every car that leaves the assembly line with the appropriate nameplate. The new 2024 Subaru Impreza was no exception.

According to the decision of the company’s specialists, the car will be produced exclusively in a hatchback body. In addition, the model will no longer be equipped with a manual transmission, and four-wheel drive will always be available in all configurations. The Japanese hatchback will be released in three configurations: Base, Sport and RS, each of which is equipped with different engine options and equipment.

2024 Subaru Impreza Technical characteristics

Two engines are installed under the hood of the updated hatchback. A 2.0-liter opposed four-cylinder engine with a capacity of 152 horsepower and 197 Nm of torque will be available for the Base and Sport trim levels. Analyzing the power units of the model’s competitors in the class, it can be argued that the power of this motor will not be enough for fans of high-speed driving. In the case of the atmospheric 2.0L engine, the main goal was to achieve maximum durability and reliability of the unit.

The Subaru Impreza RS version received a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine with power and torque of 182 hp and 241 Nm, respectively. The engine is no less reliable, and with so many horses under the hood, it is ready to compete not only with cars in its segment, but also to give the owner an unforgettable experience of driving such a car.

All variations of the car are equipped with a variator type gearbox, which in the Sport and RS versions of the car has a simulated 8-speed gear mode. For a more realistic feeling of control over the transmission, the model is equipped with steering wheel speed switches on which the appropriate gear ratios are pre-set.

For maximum driving pleasure, the new Subaru Impreza model is equipped with an electronic steering rack with two gears from the WRX. As a result, the driver feels a better connection between the steering wheel and the wheels when turning the steering wheel and maneuvering on the road.

Exterior and interior

The overall design of the car is made in the so-called Dynamic & Solid style. The evolution of the car can be traced to the modified headlights, which now have a pointed shape and a larger radiator grille. The rear lights are also presented in an updated design and are made in a fork-like shape. The exhaust pipes are open, there are no dummy covers on the bumper. In general, the appearance has not undergone drastic changes. It became more business-like, with straight lines of body stamping, but the overall silhouette of the car remained recognizable and already traditional for the Impreza model.

The interior of the hatchback has undergone more radical changes than the body. The center console is now based on a portrait-oriented 11.6-inch display of the infotainment system with support for Apple Carplay and Android Auto.

In general, the interior of the car impresses with its simplicity and functionality. Controls for car systems and multimedia are located intuitively and conveniently and do not cause any inconvenience during operation. The driver’s seat has excellent lateral support, the steering wheel is covered in soft leather, and the pedal assembly is made of perforated metal alloy.

Despite the technological development of competitors in the segment such as Mazda 3, Ford Focus and Volkswagen Golf, the instrument panel of the hatchback is analog in contrast to built-in displays.

Safety systems and additional options

As with all the latest generations of Subaru cars, the Impreza is equipped with the EyeSight safety system package, which includes lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control and emergency braking.

The following was also added to the list of options of the new generation of the car:

  • Blind spot control system;
  • Warning about an obstacle behind;
  • Front and side airbags;
  • An airbag in the area of the driver’s knees;
  • Automatic emergency steering.

Maintenance and warranty

The new Impreza model is a car that takes into account the experience of past generations, incorporating the best refinements of the company’s engineers. Like the rest of the representatives of the brand, the hatchback is distinguished by reliability and practicality.

Despite the undeniable reputation of the Japanese automotive industry, the opposed design of the engine causes some inconvenience in the maintenance of the unit, in addition to this, Subaru does not offer its customers free scheduled maintenance.

The limited vehicle warranty is valid for 3 years or 60,000 km, and the powertrain warranty is 5 years or 100,000 km.
